Thomas Jung of SAP Product Management provides a detailed presentation on application development on SAP HANA starting with SAP HANA SPS05.
SAP HANA actually contains a lightweight application server embedded within the in-memory database. This application server is named SAP HANA application services (sometimes referred to as XS Engine). In this session, we will discuss the architecture and development techniques used in SAP HANA application services and we will demonstrate how to build OData and JSON-based services which expose SAP HANA tables and views for user interfaces (UIs) and mobile consumption. We will also see how to model database artifacts from a developer perspective and leverage new developer-centric features of the SAP HANA studio planned for SAP HANA 1.0 support pack 5.
