In late January a number of startups joined the SAP field organization, and the Startup Focus, in Las Vegas for the America’s annual SAP Field Kick-off Meeting. FanAppz, Liquid Analytics, Approyo, and KloudData joined hundreds of SAP sales people, field management and industry principals to discuss current pain points experienced by SAP customers and how startup solutions could provide value. In addition to meeting with individual account executives and global account directors, startups also met with a variety of industry leadership to discuss broader trends and opportunities to work together.
A few themes resonated with the startups:
- Sometimes it ‘takes a village’. While SAP can solve a lot of problems for customers, there are a lot of fresh ideas from startups that can address the most interesting and intriguing, issues and opportunities experienced by our customers. Startup solutions running on SAP HANA extend the value and applicability of any SAP HANA implementation.
- ‘Data to decision’ means that SAP and many of our startups are oriented to convert bulk, useless data into high value, insightful, relevant, actionable insights that drive business decisions. SAP is committed to making this happen as are many of the big data startups.
