As you aware, SAP HANA One (Start an Instance on AWS) is an instant delivery mechanism of SAP HANA in the public cloud (starting with AWS) with hourly pricing for commercial and productive uses with community support. You pay $0.99 per hour for HANA software and around 2.80/hr. for AWS infrastructure with no upfront contract to sign. You already know that you can use it like a light switch turning it on and off paying for only when you’re using your instance. You can build any amazing HANA application or solution you want using the advanced out of the box analytical capabilities of SAP HANA as long as your data within your HANA instance is around 30-32GB compressed. Using HANA One, you can instantly access the new and enhanced features of HANA SPS7 including Geospatial Analysis, SAP HANA Smart Data Access. Before you start using SPS7 on HANA One, please visit HANA SPS7 blog to know and learn new SPS7 features. Based on your user status, you can follow one of the following steps to acccess SPS7 in HANA One (
- Existing HANA One customer using HANA One lower than Rev 52.1
- Existing HANA One customers using HANA One Rev 52.1
- New HANA One Customers
Existing SAP HANA One customer using HANA One lower than Rev 52.1
Please follow to migrate to HANA One Rev 52.1 (HANA Upgradable). Then follow steps described for existing SAP HANA One Customers using HANA One Rev 52.1 to use HANA SPS7 (starting with Rev 70) as described below.
Existing SAP HANA One Customers using HANA One Rev 52.1
If you are using SAP HANA One Rev 52.1 (HANA Upgradable) version, you must be using a newer version of HANA than what came with your instance when you launched from AWS Marketplace. Please continue the same process described in the section “Upgrading SAP HANA with Add-on Manager” in to upgrade your HANA One instance from any existing HANA version to Rev 70 (SPS7). To optimally utilize the available memory, SAP recommends to stop and to restart the EC2 instance from EC2 management console after a HANA upgrade. You may need to associate Elastic IP after a restart of the EC2 instance (EC2-classic).
New SAP HANA One Customers to use SPS7
Welcome to SAP HANA One. Please visit community for HANA One documents including and to use SAP HANA One@AWS. Following you can have an SAP HANA One instance will be up and running in around 10-15 mins. It may take little longer if you are either new to AWS and/or SAP HANA. Then you can continue the process described in the section “Upgrading SAP HANA with Add-on Manager” in to upgrade your HANA One instance from any existing HANA version to Rev 70 (SPS7). When you start with HANA One Rev 52,1, the administration tab at HANA One Management Console shows HANA One version as Rev 52.1 and HANA version as Rev 52 and HANA is up as shown below.
When you are ready to upgrade your HANA One instance to Rev 70 (SPS7), click “Addons” tab. Ignore all the packages you don’t need. You can ignore all HANA Addon packages till Rev 70. You can ignore any other packages, if are they are not required. However, you recommend to install Lumira samplers to learn how to use SAP HANA One with SAP Lumira. After you ignored all the packages except Rev 70, you will find only Rev 70 under New tab as shown below.
You are ready to upgrade your instance to SPS7 (Rev 70) clicking “Download & Install” and following the “Upgrading SAP HANA with Add-on Manager” in .
If you want to install Lumira, you need to click “Ignored” and click on “install” next to “Lumira Samplers”.
1. Please make sure you allow pop-up blocker in your browser (Chrome or Firefox) from your HANA One instance IP
2. You may need to “Reload/Refresh” you page after you click on “Input”
3. Wait around 10-12 mins till the installation is complete and Rev 70 package disappears from New tab to “Installed” tab (Success) or “Ignored” tab (Success). If the process is not successful, please post a message to HANA One support forum with necessary details.
After successful installation, you will see HANA and HANA One versions at administration tab as below:
