[Cricket Results] – Kolkata Snap Losing Streak with Clinical Chase

The Kolkata Knight Riders snapped their three match losing streak by clinically chasing down Delhi’s total in the 19th over at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi. With the win Kolkata vaulted themselves into playoff contention and knocked the Daredevils down to even more firmly entrench them at the bottom of the table. By loading ball by ball match data into SAP HANA we can create insightful visualizations in SAP Lumira and SAP Crystal Reports to analyze the match.

With SAP Crystal Reports we can create a worm chart that shows each team’s cumulative score at any point in the match and when exactly their wickets were taken. The Knight Riders took five wickets from the Daredevils during their opening attack and consistently took a wicket around every 4th over to really disrupt any partnership that the Daredevils could form. Then in their innings the Knight Riders didn’t lose wicket until the 12th over at which point they had scored over 100 runs and were well out in front of Delhi’s pace.

Using SAP Lumira we can plot the number of runs each of KKR’s four batsman scored during their innings. Gautam Gambhir in blue below, had a monster innings as his 69 runs on 56 balls earned the left handed batter Man of the Match honors. Jacques Kallis had a brief yet very productive innings as the unbeaten South African scored 10 runs on the six balls he faced.

Shakib Al Hasan had a fantastic evening bowling as after delivering four overs of balls he finished the match with a minuscule 3.25 economy. With SAP Crystal Reports we can create a graphic that shows the line, length, and result of each ball Al Hasan delivered during his excellent overs. 20 of Al Hasan’s 24 deliveries were from length balls with nine of those 20 balls resulting in dots.
