[Cricket Results] – Kings XI Pummel Royal Challengers

The fierce Kings XI lineup mauled the Royal Challengers’ attack in route to a 32 run victory. Even on an evening when Orange Cap Man Glenn Maxwell didn’t last long in the crease, the balanced Kings XI’s lineup increased their tournament leading run total by hanging 198 on the Royal Challengers in the opening innings. By loading the ball by ball data from the match into SAP HANA we can create informative visualizations in SAP Lumira and SAP Crystal Reports to analyze how the Kings XI soundly defeated Bangalore.

With SAP Crystal Reports we can create a worm chart that shows the cumulative number of runs each team had scored at any point in the match and when their wickets were taken. Even though the Kings XI lost eight wickets, they cruised during their innings with monster 8th, 13th, and 16th overs. Then from the opening over of their attack Punjab keep the Royal Challengers at bay and way below their pace while collecting nine scalps.

With SAP Lumira we can create a pair of pie charts that show the percentage of runs each team’s individual bowlers conceded with a depth of the number of balls, wides, and no balls they delivered to depict the individual bowling efficiencies for match. Sandeep Sharma’s three wicket hat-trick for the Kings XI earned the right-handed medium speed bowler the Man of the Match honor. Sharma finished with a respectable economy of 6.25. Check out his great efficiency in the lime green slice below. Bangalore’s Harshal Patel was terrorized by the Kings XI lineup as his massive orange slice below was a result of conceding 56 runs in 3 overs.

With SAP Crystal Reports we can create a wagon wheel that shows the trajectory and line of each of the 24 run scoring shots the match’s highest scorer, Kings XI’s David Miller, struck during his innings. The left handed batsman smashed all three of his boundaries to his right and three out of his eight fours came from cover drives to his left. Two-Thirds of Miller’s 66 runs came from boundary shots.
