Coming off a huge victory over the table topping Kings XI Punjab for the second time this season, the Mumbai Indians still have an outside shot of landing the final playoff sport if they win-out their remaining two match and some other results fortunately go their way. Mumbai will like their chances of victory this afternoon as they host the table cellar dwelling Delhi Daredevils, who have yet to win a match on Indian soil. The Indians will be seeking revenge, as the Daredevils collected one of their two wins against the Indians in Sharjah early this year. Find out how the Daredevils overhauled the Indians last month and see how the teams faired against each other last season. By loading match data into SAP HANA we can preview this afternoon’s match by creating insight-laden visualizations with SAP Lumira and SAP Lumira Cloud.
With SAP Lumira we can create a pair of bar charts that show the number of runs each Indian and Daredevil batsman has scored this season. JP Duminy’s 357 runs and Dinesh Karthik’s 305 runs are shown in lime green and magenta bars respectively below. The pair has consistently been the Daredevils best batsmen this season with both notching multiple half centuries. Both Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu have scored over 300 runs for the Indians. Evident in the chart below is Mumbai’s higher number of productive batsman, as Duminy and Karthik are the only Daredevil batsmen to eclipsed the 200 run mark. It’s not surprising that the Daredevils have scored the least amount of runs in the tournament.
Using SAP Lumira’s intuitive interface we can show the percentage of the total runs that each team has concede that are the result of boundary shots with a stacked horizontal bar chart. While the Indians’ bowlers have conceded a few more non boundary runs than the Daredevils’ bowlers, Delhi’s attack has consistently been gashed for boundaries. The Daredevils have conceded 1,068 boundary runs this season, which accounts for over 56 percent their oppositions’ runs.
After easily creating a new dataset in SAP Lumira Cloud using a CSV of the current Indian Premier Twenty20 tournament match data that we have processed with SAP HANA, we can analyze the cricket action in the in the cloud. With a few simple clicks we can create a tag cloud that depicts the number of fours each team’s batsmen have hit this season. Mumbai’s Lendi Simmons leads all players in tonight’s match with his 30 fours. Dinesh Karthik has struck the most fours for the Daredevils. Simmons, Rayudu, and Sharma have all hit their fair share of fours this season. Will they take advantage of Delhi’s propensity to concede boundaries?
Can Mumbai extend their season by handing the Daredevils their eighth straight loss?
