SAP is excited be at Hadoop Summit San Jose. Come by to say hello, see how SAP can help with your Big Data project.
I am really looking forward to being with my Hadoop friends and getting some face time with those I work closely with at Hortonworks. I am going to be with the SAP contingent at Hadoop Summit North America, June 3 through 5, 2014, at the San Jose Convention Centre. I would love to chat with you. Come by the SAP booth to say hi and see what SAP is doing around Big Data, Hadoop, predictive analytics. We really have some exciting activity in the Big Data space that we would love to share. And we would love to discuss how SAP can help you achieve success with your Big Data initiatives. Or help you get going if you have not got anything actively on the go at present.
As I get ready for this event I was thinking back over my activities for the last while, in particular a webinar I did not long ago with John Myers, Research Director at EMA, who presented a Big Data study EMA did. The results of the survey were enlightening and seem, for me, to show that SAP is on the right track with regards to Big Data, what is has to offer and how it approaches the market. The webinar “Operationalizing the Buzz: Big Data Research”, and the discussions with John caused me to reflect on SAP and Big Data. (You can catch a replay of the webinar and others in the series here) As I reflect on where I see SAP as being with regard Big Data and what it has accomplished to date, I have to say that I feel SAP is doing pretty good.
Things on my mental check list, that make me feel SAP is doing very well with Big Data, included the fact that SAP was listed as one of the ‘Top 16 Big Data Analytics Platforms’ by Doug Henschen. On January 30, 2014, on Informationweek Doug presented a commented overview of what he sees as the ‘Top 16 Big Data Analytics Platforms’. (read it here) and SAP was one of his picks. As well SAP has set two (2) Guinness World records with respect to Big Data –mmm Guinness – good beer … but I digress. The first Guinness World Record was for Fastest Loading of Big Data (see the Guinness page here) and the second was for the world’s Largest Data Warehouse (see the Guinness page here). No small feats in my opinion and to me proof that SAP has the chops to help businesses just like yours successfully tackle Big Data. And there is the fact that in Wikibon’s 2014 “Big Data Vendor Revenue and Market Forecast” report SAP was ranked 4 out of 74 in terms of Big Data market share, behind IBM, HP, and Dell, all known for their hardware, and all respected SAP partners (You can read the report here). A very respective showing indeed. And if you only look at software – that for which SAP is known – SAP actually ranks #1. I wrote a blog about this that you can read it here.) So over all I have to say that I feel SAP is doing very well with regards to Big Data – very well indeed. Make sure to look us up at the show. We’d love to share these and other Big Data successes with you.
