We created the first annual HANA Innovation Awards to honor companies who are using SAP HANA to drive innovation and positively impact their workforce, partners, customers, and society. Customers were invited to enter their innovation story in one of the following categories:
1. Trailblazer: for companies using SAP HANA to transform the business and empower their workforce and customers. Improvements should be substantial rather than incremental.
2. Social Hero: for companies using SAP HANA to be socially responsible and improve the lives (e.g. health) of others while balancing those improvements with profits.
3. Big Data: for companies using SAP HANA and Big Data to re-imagine business and create a new and revolutionary business model.
To identify finalists, we used a crowd-sourcing format similar to American Idol and Dancing with the stars. 22 Finalists from the total number of entries were selected by public voting and winners were selected by a panel of judges comprised of SAP employees and representatives from SAP User groups.
