On August 14-15th we hosted our 10th annual SAP Data Summit at our SAP offices in La Crosse, Wisconsin.  We’re located right on the banks of the mighty Mississippi River with one of the best locations to host an SAP event.

The La Crosse office has been home to a large segment of the product development and customer support teams for SAP’s data management solutions for over 30+ years and still serves as a key product development site for SAP.

At this years event we had 30 customer attendees from many of the worlds largest consumer packaged goods, manufacturing, agricultural, and retail organizations.  The size of this event was absolutely perfect to provide a high level of engagement among attendees and still provide a broad spectrum of diversity in data management problems to solve, differing titles in attendance, and a lot of different experiences with SAP technology.

We try to make sure there is adequate time to network and each customer has time to engage with SAP experts and hear from SAP customers and partners as we heard from our attendees:

“I’m new to SAP productions, so there was a wealth of information presented. It was especially helpful to have both current clients and internal product experts at the event”

“I felt the attendance was just the right size which encouraged interaction and knowledge share.  Access to be able to talk to the development team was also very useful”.

Our customer keynote speakers were Mick Patterson BI Architect & SAP HANA SME from Intel IT and Mustafa Dadawalla, Global Data Quality Manager for Corning Optical Communications.  Mick presented on Intel’s Business Transformation enabled by the SAP HANA Data Management Suite.   You can learn more about how SAP and Intel are collaborating so transform Intel’s supply chain, solve Big Data analytics challenges, and deliver SAP HANA support for Intel® Optane™ DC persistent memory.

Hear more from Mustafa Dadawalla from Corning about the event!

One of the best parts of this event is the deep-dive and hands-on sessions we do.   This year we did a deep dive into SAP Spatial Technologies, SAP Data Hub, and SAP HANA.  This year the SAP product engineering team was heavily engaged in the SAP Data Hub hands-on session to show off some of the great new developments coming in the next release and to get feedback from customers.   Engineering also offered to engage with customers onsite to further the development of this great new solution.  If this is something you’re interested in sign up for the SAP Data Hub Early Adopter Care program  or leave a reply to this blog.

We also love to have a little fun at this event!  This year we help an SAP Data Chef networking event.  We were blessed to have celebrity chef Jen Barney, winner of Food Network’s Season 4 Holiday Baking Championship, provide a baking demonstration and provide dessrt along with our  very own SAP Data Chef, Mark Mumy, to answer everyones most challenging questions about SAP technology.

One attendee summed it up well: “Engagement was excellent! Networking event was fun!”

I want to say a big thank you to both Intel and Utopia for sponsoring and presenting at our event!

Keep an eye out for information about next years event and we hope you can join us in La Crosse, WI in 2019!
