SVP – SAP HANA & Database
Richard Pledereder leads Product Management and Development teams, reporting to Daniel Schneiss, head of HANA Platform & Database. In his role Richard collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to drive product strategy, define roadmaps, and deliver innovations in HANA Platform and related database products. Previously, Richard headed development at Sybase for row and column-oriented database products (ASE and IQ) and complex event processing (CEP). During his tenure, the product teams achieved three critical milestones: SAP BusinessSuite on ASE, industry leading benchmark results for IQ and world-class performance for the Event Streaming Product (based on best-of-breed technology from Stanford and ATT Labs). Prior to that, Richard led product management, engineering, professional services and support at Financial Fusion, providing its customers with industry leading high-performance products for online banking and financial messaging. He also built a new development, professional services and customer support organization in Beijing, China. Earlier in his career, Richard worked as Technical Director and Developer on Middleware Software, Distributed Transaction Processing and SQL database engines. Richard holds BS/MS degrees in Computer Science and a BA (double major) in Economics focus from the Technical University of Munich and University of Munich. The German Academic Exchange Program (DAAD) and Stanford University nominated Richard for an exchange visit to Stanford (advanced database seminar). He also worked at NCR's Articifical Intelligence lab. Richard is the holder of a U.S. Patent.
